Day 1 of 5
Land in Colombo and meet your driver-guide for the scenic 3.5-hour drive north to the Sigiriya area. Settle into your stay with the rock fortress visible from the garden by evening.
Day 2 of 5
Climb the 5th-century rock palace early to beat the heat, then spend the afternoon on a traditional village tour — ox-cart ride, catamaran paddle and a home-cooked lunch included.
Day 3 of 5
Visit the golden cave temple at Dambulla before continuing to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's medieval capital. Explore the ruins by bicycle, finishing at the Gal Vihara rock-cut Buddhas.
Day 4 of 5
Morning jeep safari through Minneriya National Park chasing wild elephant herds, then drive to Kandy in time for the evening puja ceremony at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Day 5 of 5
A relaxed morning at the Royal Botanical Gardens and Kandy Lake before transferring back to Colombo for your onward flight.

Yes, though the Sigiriya climb involves steep stairways — families with very young children sometimes swap it for a shorter site visit, which we can arrange.
Absolutely — Ella and the south coast pair naturally onto the end of this route if you'd like to keep traveling.
Expect 1.5–2 hours of stairs and uneven ground at Sigiriya, and a similar amount of flat cycling or walking at Polonnaruwa.
