Leopard tracking and open-jeep safaris in golden grasslands
Overview
Yala has one of the highest densities of leopards anywhere on earth, alongside elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles and over 200 species of birds across its dry-zone grasslands and lagoons.
Early-morning and late-afternoon jeep safaris offer the best chance of a sighting, when the park's big cats are most active and the light is at its softest.

No wildlife sighting can be guaranteed, but Yala consistently ranks among the best places on earth for leopard encounters.
Most sessions run 3–4 hours, timed around dawn or dusk when animals are most active.
Block 1 closes for around a month each year (usually September) for park maintenance — we'll route you to an open area if your dates overlap.
